Principled Investigation is locally owned and managed in Central Florida by Ernest “Curt” Curtsinger. Curt is a former Chief of Police and Assistant City Manager in St. Petersburg, Florida. As the Chief officer of a 475-man department, he oversaw a number of major crimes and RICO cases which gained national attention. During his tenure as the Chief of Police he implemented a Community Based Policing program that became the template for many other departments throughout the Country. As an Assistant City Manager, he was solely responsible for the management of the Municipal Port and Airport, turning both into profit centers for the City.
Prior to his time in St. Petersburg, he was a Bureau Commander with the Los Angeles Police Department. During his time with the Los Angeles Police Department Commander Curtsinger either directly commanded or oversaw the investigative function of various units within a police department of over 8,000 employees. While serving with the LAPD he worked as an investigator on multiple criminal conspiracies in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation involving militant groups espousing the overthrow of the Government. He was one of the original SWAT team members, developed and was the primary instructor of the department’s investigator school, the Homicide crime scene investigation school, and was the department’s investigative analysis expert for a number of years.
After returning to the Los Angeles area he owned and operated a medium sized security and investigations agency for nine years. The firm was a full service firm with nearly 500 employees providing unarmed security throughout Los Angeles and conducting a number of very sensitive investigations and services.
Mr. Curtsinger is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy and the National Executive Institute. He attended the California Command College at California Polytechnic University at Pomona. He has been a member of the Executive Research Forum, The Police Foundation, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He holds a Police Science degree from East Los Angeles Junior College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration and attended the Masters program at Pepperdine University.
